Below is some of the answers to the most common questions asked by some of our clients.

1. What Sort of web site do i need?..
   There is a lot to take into account when planning to add a web site to your business; you first need to fully understand why you are doing it, and what the requirements are.  Are you putting up a site to act as an online brochure? or do you want your site to be a whole new revenue earning aspect to your business?

2. Do i need a Simple Static Web Site or a more complex web site or how many web sitepages will i need?
   Simple low-cost sites can be like static pages. These types of web site are a good introduction to a first online presence, although this type of site is more accustomed to personal web pages or for small portfolios and usually updated every twelve months or so by a designer. For a small business web site to be successful you will normally require around 3-5 pages. This includes an homepage, a page to contain your contact details, a page about your business and a further page about your services or product. If you have a range of products or services adding a search feature can be helpful to your visitors. The idea of any web site is to attract visitors and to allow the user easy access to the information they require.

3. What is a Flash Web Site, will it benefit me?
   A flash web site is a web site that is made of of or contains flash media.  A full Flash web site design behaves much like an interactive advert, all of the content is held in external movie files that are requested only when required, thus keeping the page download times down to a minimum.  Flash media allows the use of animated images or movies to be encoded into a web page.  The flash media can contain links, be used a web sites navigation, display products or even be used to capture a browsers in input and linked to a database.  Flash web sites are ideal for businesses that fall into a niche in their market or for mini product sites showcasing a particular product range.  One drawback to flash web sites is their ability to be used effectively by disabled users and their ability to allow search engine spiders to crawl their content.

4. What is a Business / Interactive / Online product catalogue web site.
   A typical business web site can be compared to an online company brochure, containing information about the products and services a company may offer, with contact details, photographs or illustrations and downloadable documents. In many cases these types of web site will need to contain programmed pages and scripts (.ASP, PHP, Coldfusion, .NET) and may have dynamic content served-up from a database ( MS Access, MySQL or Oracle). A larger business web site can contain anywhere from 5 to an unlimited number of web pages.

5. What is an ecommerce / Corporate Dynamic Web Site / Intranet or Extranet.
   Corporate sites are more interactive and are often linked to databases allowing the visitor to search for information and get presented with unique pages of information drawn from the database's data. We call these dynamic database driven web sites. These sites may be constantly updated with new products or information. An ecommerce web site design would allow visitors to buy goods and execute transactions securely over the internet through a payment gateway. One of the biggest advantages of a database driven web site is that they can be driven from an online content management system, where the content on the site can be added by your authorised employees who won't need to understand HTML or advanced scripting technologies. A dynamic web site can contain an unlimited number of pages that can be generated only when the user requests the information.
